We have a range of wellbeing activities for you to help you settle in and check in whenever you need some extra support or someone to talk to. You’ll also be able to access regular wellbeing sessions with our Student Support and Experience team throughout your time at ALT. This includes:

    • Induction and enrolment programme at the start of each academic year.
    • One-to-one pastoral support available to all students.
    • Weekly drop-in sessions during term time.
    • A calendar full of regular workshops and activities.

We also partner with charities and organisations to put together a series of campaigns and awareness events with practical advice and guidance for mental health and wellbeing.

Sometimes, you might want support from someone who’s separate from our staff, your friends or family. Counselling may help you. You can talk in a safe, non-judgmental and confidential setting where you can work through your problems. We have professional, registered counselling and wellbeing support through our Student Assistance Programme. This is facilitated by Health Assured, the UK’s largest independent assistance programme.

You’ll also have access to the Health Assured app for personalised content and courses to give you the wellbeing tools and strategies to use in your own time.

If you’d like to find out more about how we can support you with your wellbeing and mental health, email student.support@altech.ac.uk

  • Medical support

We work in partnership with local healthcare providers close to campus. The Park Green Surgery is within walking distance of our campus. For information on the services available, visit Park Green Surgery or register with the surgery

We encourage you to register with a local doctor as soon as you start your studies with us to make sure that you can see a doctor if you need medical care during the course of your studies.

  • Disability support

If you have a specific learning difficulty, physical or medical condition, or mental health difficulties, our Student Support & Experience team can help you find the right support for you.

This includes helping you with your application for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA). Disabled Students' Allowances (DSAs) is financial support available from the government to help you with any costs and support you may need as a direct result of a disability, ongoing health condition, sensory impairment, mental health condition or specific learning difficulties.

If you are applying for DSA, we recommend you start the process at least three months before your course starts. This is so you can complete all stages of the application and ensure support is in place before teaching begins.

If you’d like to talk about anything or find out what disability support is available to you, contact student.support@altech.ac.uk
